While it’s admittedly taken some time for podcasts to work their way into my daily info hunt, I’m finding that I’m now habitually plugging in whenever I have a moment. In fact, it feels like a borderline addiction at times.

Over the course of an average week I mostly pull in a mix of tech-related podcasts like IT Conversations and Daily Source Code among others, but I’m also really digging The Chris Pirillo Show and CNET’s Buzz Out Loud.

And for the flack in me, Shel and Neville’s For Immediate Release podcast can’t be beat, it’s a must-listen for PR folks, but I also have to give props to Eric Schwartzman and the folks at iPressroom.

Their “On the Record” series of podcasts interviews have been very insightful, likewise their work this week with Ecast in coverage of the Ad Tech Conference is impressive.

It’s interesting to experience how podcasting and blogs can work hand-in-hand to both inform and entertain, but ultimately enrich your experience and perspective on trends, news, people, and everything in betweenit’s the perfect fix for an info junkie.

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia Airlines recorded a pre-tax profit of RM22.6 million (US$5.95 million) for the first quarter ended June 30, 2004, from a turnover of RM2.44 billion.

The national carrier posted a net loss of RM162.32 million from a turnover of RM1.67 billion for the same period last year.

MAS managing director, Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Dahlan, said the airline expects second quarter results to be better as the current high fuel prices have had an effect on the profit margin in the period reviewed.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday to announce MAS’ Q1 profits, Ahmad Fuaad said that MAS has already hedged its fuel costs at 45 percent in the second quarter and 36 percent of the total fuel requirements during the third quarter at between US$42 and US$46 a barrel.

Despite the rising fuel prices MAS had no intention to increase the surcharge of RM50 for each long-haul sector and RM15 for a regional sector.

Ahmad Fuaad also revealed MAS “is now in the process of stating its intention” to join a global airline alliance next month, although he does not expect to see the national carrier being admitted to one until next year.

He declined to say which alliance but speculation is that it could either be Skyteam or Oneworld.
